ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will play a critical role in the stability, security, and evolution of our clients’ IT environments. You will provide Tier 3 support, overseeing complex technical issues and leading advanced troubleshooting efforts. Beyond technical support, you will be responsible for system architecture, security implementations, and process improvements to ensure our clients' IT infrastructure is efficient and secure.

\In this leadership role, you will mentor junior team members, serve as an escalation point for challenging technical issues, and contribute to strategic IT initiatives. A strong foundation in networking, server administration, cloud computing, and security best practices is required.

A valid BC Driver’s License and access to a vehicle are required, as you will provide onsite and remote support as necessary. Experience with ConnectWise Manage, Automate, and supporting Mac networks is an asset.

WHAT DOES THAT LOOK LIKE?

  • Provide Tier 3 support and act as the final escalation point for complex technical issues.
  • Own complex incidents end-to-end, from diagnosis through resolution and post-incident improvement.
  • Manage and support Windows and macOS environments, ensuring stability, security, and performance.
  • Deploy, administer, and optimize Microsoft technologies, both on-premises and cloud-based, including Windows Server (AD, Group Policy, DFS, RDS, File Services), Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive), Azure, and Intune.
  • Oversee and troubleshoot server, network, and security infrastructure including firewalls, switches, access points, and VPNs.
  • Administer and maintain virtualized environments such as Hyper-V and VMware.
  • Implement, optimize, and test backup and disaster recovery solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Improve and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and client environments in collaboration with Management.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base content.
  • Participate in on-call rotation as a tertiary escalation resource after probation.
  • Mentor and support System Administrators and Field Technicians.

WHAT DO WE LOOK FOR?

Technical Experience & Knowledge
  • 5+ years of experience in IT support, system administration, or network management, ideally at an MSP.
  • Experience in a technical escalation role supporting complex client environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Server technologies including Active Directory, GPOs, DFS, and RDS.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals such as firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, and Intune; AWS experience is an asset.
  • Experience managing virtualized infrastructure (Hyper-V, VMware).
  • Experience implementing and maintaining backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Knowledge of endpoint security tools and security best practices.
  • Ability to clearly document technical processes and procedures.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both in-person and remote.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear, user-friendly language to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to assess risk, severity, and impact.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering a WOW-level customer experience.
  • Proven ability to mentor, coach, and elevate the technical skills of others.

Education & Certifications
  • Microsoft 365 certified (Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or higher).
  • Microsoft 365 Modern Desktop Administrator Expert is an asset.
  • CompTIA Network+ and/or Security+ preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, MCSA, or MCSE preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This role operates in a professional office and technical environment and may involve work in server rooms or on-site client office environments. The role routinely uses standard office and IT equipment, including computers, networking equipment, servers, rack‑mounted UPS systems, batteries, and related components.

Compensation

$85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
